Sphere
Music has always inspired Elvin Nabizade. That’s why, for his installation presented at the Venice Biennale, the artist has chosen unusual materials: musical instruments. They are hover in the air and form a ball. The spherical composition of various musical instruments embodying the different peoples of Azerbaijan, creates a surprisingly concordant streamlined shape. There are no sharp corners nor vision-cutting elements. These musical instruments, along with instruments of other nations and ethnic groups living in Azerbaijan, symbolize the idea of unity and the art to coexist and to live together. The sphere, as the support of the nations, binds them to one another. The very distinctive sound of each music instrument turns to be the part of a united harmonious modulation. There is no contradiction: the musical instrument, part of the soul of the people, with its sound gives birth to a whole world filled with harmony and beauty, touching the finest strings of soul.
